Description
This rug was handwoven by a skilled collective of artisans from a village just outside Beni M’rirt, tucked within Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains.
Led by Soukina, the group is made up of 35 women who have been weaving together since the early 2000s, when Soukina’s late mother first founded the atelier. They specialize in medium-to-high hand-knot techniques—a tradition deeply rooted in the region, resulting in rugs known for their remarkable density and velvety pile.
A geometric lattice unfolds across the surface, punctuated by symbolic motifs that nod to Amazigh storytelling. The structured forms are softened by shifting tones and subtle recesses, giving the piece a rhythmic, almost architectural presence.
Each rug is crafted from 100% “live” wool and naturally dyed by a third-generation family of master dyers.
