Soukina’s Earthy-Hued Recessed Lines

This rug was designed and will be handwoven by a talented group of artisans from a village near Beni M’rirt, nestled in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains.

Led by Soukina, this collective of 35 women has been crafting exquisite handwoven pieces since the early 2000s, when her late mother founded the group. Specializing in medium- to high-pile hand-knot rugs, a style deeply rooted in the region’s tradition, their work is known for its dense knotting technique that creates a signature plush texture.

The rug is made from 100% “live” wool and dyed using natural methods by a third-generation family of dye artisans.

The interplay of recessed lines adds visual dimension, giving the piece both depth and character.
