This rug was handwoven by artisans in Tachrafat.

Tachrafat is nestled in theMiddle Atlas Mountains just north of the village of Boujad, the namesakeof this weaving style.

Boujad rugs tend toutilize vibrant colors used for the design elements. The design motifs most commonlyused in Boujad rugstend to represent geometric shapes, abstract forms and at times symbols that have been passed down through generations.

This design is extra unique as the artisans also incorporated the Boucherouitetechniquefortheloom of the rug.

The weave is less dense than the BeniM’rirt or Beni Ourain rug as there is more space between knots. Despite the difference in density,it’s still just ascozy and soft.
