This Hand-knot was woven by Mina.

Minalives just outside Kalaat M’Gouna which is in the southeast of Morocco. This town is most known for its valley of roses, and they have a well-known rose festival every May.

Made from 100% live wool,Mina carded, spun and dyed the woolby herself.Thevibrant color was created by using saffron and letting the wool soak for quite a long time. The minimal design symbolsare made from natural, undyed wool.

In more traditional vintage rug design, the symbolism is often a wish or depiction of the artisan’s life. These days, the next generation of artisans finds inspiration in other sources, like the natural landscapes around them.

For example, the three identical wave-like symbols represent a saw—a symbol of respect in theAmazigh culture.
