M’rirt’s Dotted Hand-Knot – Area Rug

This rugwaswovenby a group of artisans who reside in avillagejust outside of Beni M’rirt.

Soukina leads this group of 25 artisans from a Village just outside Beni M’rirt, in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Founded in the early 2000s by her mom, Ketlouma, the collective makes medium to high hand-knot rugs, a style named after the region.

Traditional rugs from this region use a thick knotting technique, which makes the rugs feel extra plush.

This rug is made up of 100% undyed sheep’s wool. Natural black sheep have various pigments which has allowed for a natural variety in shades of black to dark brown throughout the rug.
